The short version

What runs on your device

All of the astronomy. The ephemeris — the tables the planetary positions come from — is built into the app, so the panchanga, your natal chart and every timing window are worked out locally. Nothing waits on a server, and nothing about your day or your chart is sent anywhere.

What uses the internet

Searching for a place

When you type a city name, the text goes to Apple Maps to find matches, the same as any other map search. When you pick one, the coordinates of that place are sent to Open Meteo, an independent weather and geography service, to look up its ground elevation — the app needs it to compute sunrise accurately. The elevation is stored with the place, so later calculations stay local. If the lookup fails, the app uses sea level and carries on.

Neither service is sent your name, an account, or any identifier. Neither of them is us. Open Meteo receives the coordinates and, as with any web request, your device's IP address; it does not require or receive a key. See Open Meteo's terms and Apple's location services notice.

The app may also ask Apple to fill in the time zone of a place you saved earlier, if it was stored before the app knew how to record one.

Using your current location

If you let the app use your location, the coordinate is sent to Apple to turn it into a place name to show you. This happens on iPhone and on Apple Watch. Your position is used to compute your local panchanga — sunrise starts the Vedic day, and it falls at a different moment in every city — and it is stored on your device, not on a server.

You never have to grant location access. Setting a city by hand works just as well.

Your birth details

Your birth date, birth time, time zone, nakshatra, moon sign and computed chart are held on your device and are not sent anywhere. The one exception is the birth place: if you set it by searching for a city, that search and its coordinates follow the same path as any other place, above. You can avoid that entirely by entering your birth star directly, without a birth time or place, and the app will still work.

What is stored, and where

Everything the app remembers — your settings, saved places, birth details and the chart computed from them — is kept in the app's own storage on your device. There is no iCloud sync, no cloud database and no account behind it. Deleting the app deletes all of it.

Your Apple Watch

Settings and birth details sync between your iPhone and your paired Apple Watch using Apple's built-in device-to-device connection. That link is between your own two devices; it does not go over the internet and it does not pass through us.

What we do not do

No analytics or usage tracking. No advertising, and no advertising identifier. No third-party SDKs of any kind — the app depends on no outside code library. No profile of you exists, because there is nowhere for one to exist.

Children

The app is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, including children.

This website

These pages set no cookies, run no analytics and load nothing from a third party — no trackers, no fonts, no embeds. They run one small script, which does exactly one thing: reveal our email address when you press the button asking for it, so that automated address harvesters do not find it lying in the page.

If you use the contact form, what you type is delivered to us by Netlify, the company that hosts this site, and is kept only so we can answer you. Our host also records ordinary server access logs, as every web server does.

Changes

If the app's behavior changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top moves. We will not quietly widen what leaves your device.
